NVIDIA's Final Windows 10 Game Ready Driver Arrives This Month
NVIDIA will end regular Windows 10 Game Ready and Studio driver support after October 2026, then provide quarterly security updates through October 2029.

October is the last month for regular GeForce driver support on Windows 10
NVIDIA's published Windows 10 support plan says the final GeForce Game Ready Driver supporting Windows 10 will be released in October 2026. The first Game Ready Driver that does not support Windows 10 is scheduled for November 2026.
That makes October the practical transition month for GeForce owners who have remained on Windows 10. It does not mean NVIDIA graphics drivers suddenly stop functioning when November begins; it means new regular Game Ready and Studio driver releases move on without Windows 10 support.
| Period | Windows 10 driver status | What users should expect |
|---|---|---|
| October 2026 | Final Game Ready Driver with Windows 10 support | Last regular branch with new Game Ready support |
| November 2026 onward | New Game Ready Drivers no longer support Windows 10 | New game optimizations and routine driver features move to supported operating systems |
| Through October 2029 | Quarterly security updates | Critical security fixes continue on Windows 10 |
Security updates continue for three more years
NVIDIA is not dropping Windows 10 completely after the final regular driver. Its support plan says Windows 10 will transition to quarterly security updates for three years, through October 2029, with critical bug fixes delivered to users.
The distinction matters: security servicing is not the same thing as continuing Game Ready support. A Windows 10 PC can still receive NVIDIA security fixes while missing future day-one game optimizations, feature additions and ordinary fixes delivered through newer Game Ready or Studio branches.
The current 617.14 driver still supports Windows 10
NVIDIA's current GeForce Game Ready 617.14 WHQL package, released September 22, still lists both Windows 10 64-bit and Windows 11. It adds Game Ready support for CONTROL Resonant, Gears of War: E-Day, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered and AION 2.
NVIDIA has not yet identified the exact October driver version that will become the final Windows 10 Game Ready release. The support plan confirms the month, not a specific version number or release day, so Core Tech Tips will not infer those details before NVIDIA publishes them.
Windows 10 users should separate compatibility from security
For a PC that runs a stable existing game and application library, the end of regular driver releases may not create an immediate technical problem. The larger compatibility risk develops over time as future games and applications target newer driver branches that no longer install on Windows 10.
For users deciding whether to migrate, the useful question is therefore not whether a GeForce GPU will stop working on November 1. It is whether continued access to new game profiles, driver features and routine fixes matters enough to move the system to a currently supported Windows version while NVIDIA's Windows 10 security-only period continues.
