The Coalition has finalized the launch PC specification tiers
The Coalition announced on September 17 that Gears of War: E-Day has gone gold and published what it calls the final PC specifications for launch. The requirements are more useful than a conventional minimum/recommended list because they attach graphics presets, resolution and frame-rate targets to three hardware tiers.
The official launch targets span 1080p at 60 FPS on Medium, 1440p at 60+ FPS on High, and 4K at 60+ FPS on Ultra. Each target is listed with DLSS, FSR, TSR or XeSS rather than being presented as a native-resolution performance guarantee. Actual performance can still vary with the exact hardware, settings, background activity and reconstruction method.
| Requirement | Minimum | Recommended | Ultra |
|---|---|---|---|
| Target | 1080p / 60 FPS / Medium | 1440p / 60+ FPS / High | 4K / 60+ FPS / Ultra |
| GPU | GeForce RTX 5050 or RTX 2060; Radeon RX 6600 or RX 9060 | GeForce RTX 5060 or RTX 3060 Ti; Radeon RX 6700 XT or RX 9060 XT | GeForce RTX 5070 Ti or Radeon RX 7900 XT |
| CPU | Ryzen 5 2600X; Core i7-6850K or Core i5-10400 | Ryzen 5 5600 or Core i5-11600K | Ryzen 7 7800X3D or Core i7-14700K |
| VRAM | 6 GB | 8 GB | 12 GB |
| System RAM | 12 GB | 16 GB | 16 GB |
| Storage | 115 GB SSD | 115 GB SSD | 115 GB SSD |
The published targets assume image reconstruction
The performance line for all three tiers explicitly lists DLSS, FSR, TSR or XeSS. That qualification matters when comparing a PC against the table: the listed 1080p, 1440p and 4K targets should not be silently reinterpreted as native-rendering benchmarks.
The requirements are also not independent Core Tech Tips measurements. They are launch targets supplied by The Coalition. A PC matching one named CPU and GPU combination is therefore not guaranteed to reproduce an exact frame rate in every campaign scene, multiplayer match, driver version or graphics configuration.
An SSD and hardware ray tracing are part of the supported PC baseline
All three published tiers specify 115 GB of SSD storage. Current launch coverage accompanying the specification graphic also states that a GPU with hardware ray-tracing support is required. The game uses hardware ray tracing for reflections, shadows and global illumination, so an older GPU should not be treated as supported merely because its conventional raster performance resembles a listed card.
The launch feature set also includes advanced PC graphics settings, a built-in benchmark, HDR and ultrawide support. These feature statements describe supported capabilities; they do not establish the performance cost of enabling a particular option on a particular system.
Going gold is a production milestone, not the public release
The same September 17 announcement confirms that Gears of War: E-Day has gone gold. In practical release terms, The Coalition is marking the launch build as having reached its production milestone while the game itself remains scheduled for October.
Gold status should not be read as a promise that development has stopped or that no launch update can follow. Xbox’s own store language notes that the game may require future updates and additional storage. The useful confirmed fact is narrower: the studio has reached the gold milestone and is in the final stretch toward release.
Pre-install starts September 29 before October access dates
Pre-install begins September 29 at 15:00 UTC on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC and Steam. Premium Edition players can begin early access on October 1 at 15:00 UTC, while the worldwide launch is October 6 at 15:00 UTC.
Xbox says PC Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate members can play from the October 6 launch. Those dates are availability milestones rather than performance claims, and the 115 GB specification should not be treated as a permanent upper bound on disk usage because later updates can require additional space.
What the requirements tell you before launch
The strongest pre-launch use of this table is compatibility planning. It gives PC players an official baseline for CPU class, GPU class, VRAM, system memory, SSD capacity and three reconstruction-assisted performance targets before pre-install opens.
It does not yet replace launch-version benchmarking. Questions such as frame-time consistency, CPU scaling, native-resolution performance, the relative quality and speed of each reconstruction mode, or how much headroom a faster GPU provides require measured release-code evidence. Core Tech Tips will keep those questions separate from the vendor-supplied requirements rather than manufacture benchmark conclusions from a specification chart.
