The requirements span several generations of PC hardware

Fable’s published PC matrix starts relatively low for a major 2027 open-world release. The 1080p Low target asks for a six-core Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i7-6850K, 12GB of system memory and at least 6GB of graphics memory, with the RTX 2060, RTX 5050, Radeon RX 6600 and Intel Arc A580 given as GPU examples.

The requirements become much steeper as resolution, quality and frame rate rise. The 1440p Medium tier targets 30 FPS, while higher tiers move toward 60 FPS and substantially faster CPUs and GPUs. The top published configuration calls for a Ryzen 9 7900X or Core i9-13900K, 16GB of RAM and a 16GB RTX 4080 or RTX 5080 for 4K 60 FPS at Ultra settings.

The published targets are native-resolution targets

The most important clarification arrived after the initial requirements were circulated. Xbox confirmed to PC Gamer that the listed target resolutions are achieved without upscaling. Fable also supports DLSS 4.5, AMD FSR 3 and FSR 4, and Intel XeSS 2.1.

That means the RTX 4080/5080 entry should not be read as a claim that those GPUs need DLSS to reach the stated 4K 60 FPS Ultra target. It also means players using supported upscalers may have additional performance headroom, although no independent final-build benchmark data is available yet to quantify it.

Storage is the one requirement that stays heavy at every tier

All published configurations call for 135GB of SSD space. Unlike the GPU ladder, that storage requirement does not shrink for lower visual settings, so it is a practical constraint even for players whose CPU and GPU comfortably clear the minimum specification.

Playground also recommends enabling platform features such as Resizable BAR and the appropriate memory profile, Intel XMP or AMD EXPO, where supported. Those recommendations are system-configuration guidance rather than replacements for the listed CPU, GPU or memory requirements.

Practical context

What this means for PC players

Fable’s matrix is less a single intimidating requirement than a wide scalability chart. Older mainstream gaming PCs remain inside the stated 1080p entry point, while native 4K Ultra at 60 FPS is explicitly positioned as a high-end workload.

  • RTX 2060/RX 6600-class systems are inside the official minimum target, but that target is only 1080p Low at 30 FPS.
  • The 4K Ultra recommendation is genuinely high end, reaching RTX 4080/5080-class graphics and a Ryzen 9 7900X or Core i9-13900K.
  • DLSS, FSR and XeSS support gives compatible systems another performance lever because the published resolution targets do not rely on upscaling.
  • Every tier needs 135GB on an SSD, making storage capacity relevant even for otherwise modest PCs.

Evidence status

Confirmed versus not established

Confirmed

  • Xbox lists Fable for Windows 10/11 with a February 23, 2027 release date.
  • The published PC matrix spans 1080p Low 30 FPS through 4K Ultra 60 FPS and requires 135GB of SSD storage.
  • Xbox clarified that the listed resolution targets do not depend on upscaling, while Fable supports DLSS 4.5, FSR 3/4 and XeSS 2.1.

Unconfirmed

  • Independent final-build PC benchmarks are not yet available, so this article does not claim that every listed configuration will deliver perfectly stable frame rates in all scenes.
  • The requirements do not establish the exact visual compromises or CPU/GPU bottlenecks players will encounter outside the named presets and targets.
