ASRock Taichi OLED Monitors Reach 720Hz
ASRock brings Taichi to gaming monitors with 4K 240Hz, QHD 500Hz and dual-mode QHD 540Hz/HD 720Hz OLED models, plus DP 2.1, HDMI 2.1 and USB-C.

Taichi is now a monitor brand, with three very different OLED targets
ASRock has expanded its flagship Taichi family into gaming monitors with three 27-inch OLED models rather than one common panel at different price points. The TCO27USA targets high-resolution gaming and creation at 4K 240Hz, the TCO27QXA pushes QHD QD-OLED to 500Hz, and the TCO27QXB uses a dual-mode Tandem WOLED panel that can run QHD at 540Hz or drop to HD for a headline 720Hz refresh rate.
That range makes the announcement more useful than the 720Hz number alone. ASRock is effectively splitting the same flagship monitor family across pixel density, native high-refresh QHD, and an esports-oriented dual-mode design. The company has not announced pricing or a retail availability date in its September 16 release, so those remain open questions rather than numbers to infer from the Taichi branding.

The 720Hz mode trades resolution for refresh rate
The TCO27QXB is the model likely to attract the most attention, but its two operating modes matter. ASRock specifies 540Hz at the panel’s QHD resolution and 720Hz only in an HD mode. The 720Hz figure therefore should not be read as 2560×1440 at 720Hz.
At 720Hz, one refresh interval is about 1.39 milliseconds; at 540Hz it is about 1.85ms. Those are mathematical frame intervals, not measured end-to-end latency. A faster scan opportunity can reduce one part of the display pipeline when the PC is supplying sufficiently high frame rates, but monitor processing, game latency, GPU render time, input latency and OLED pixel behavior still determine the complete experience. The other two models avoid the dual-mode compromise
The TCO27USA takes the opposite approach. Its 27-inch Penta Tandem OLED panel runs at 3840×2160 and 240Hz, giving the lineup a high-pixel-density option for users who value 4K detail more than an extreme competitive refresh ceiling. ASRock lists VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification for this model.
The TCO27QXA sits between those priorities with a 2560×1440 QD-OLED panel at up to 500Hz and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certification. Unlike the TCO27QXB, ASRock does not describe that maximum refresh rate as requiring a lower-resolution mode.
Connectivity is unusually complete across the family
ASRock says all three monitors include HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1 connectivity, USB Type-C with up to 65W Power Delivery, an integrated KVM, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and factory calibration. That combination makes the range relevant beyond pure esports use, particularly for desks shared between a gaming desktop and a USB-C laptop.
The interface labels alone do not establish the exact link rate used by every input or whether a particular maximum-resolution, refresh-rate, bit-depth and HDR combination relies on Display Stream Compression. DisplayPort 2.1 is a specification family rather than a guarantee of UHBR20 on every product. Price and shipping dates will decide how disruptive the lineup actually is
ASRock’s announcement establishes the panel technologies, headline modes and shared feature set, but it does not provide retail pricing or a launch date. That prevents a meaningful value comparison with existing 4K 240Hz and high-refresh QHD OLED monitors for now.
It also means the 720Hz model should be treated as an announced product specification rather than a tested recommendation. Independent measurements will still be needed for brightness behavior, color accuracy, input lag, VRR behavior, text rendering, OLED protection behavior and the practical quality of the lower-resolution 720Hz mode. On paper, though, the first Taichi monitor family gives ASRock three distinct OLED positions instead of building the launch around one record refresh-rate claim.
